George Cayas
George Cayas is a highly experienced and sought after Sydney based cellist and music educator. With a teaching career spanning over a decade, he has built a reputation as a confident, engaging and supportive mentor who inspires students to reach their full potential. George holds an AMusA certificate and teaches both AMEB and Suzuki methods while incorporating music theory into his lessons. He has also supported HSC students as a cello accompanist in both classical and contemporary repertoire. Known for his approachable nature and sense of humour, George creates a positive and motivating learning environment where students feel both challenged and encouraged.
After completing his undergraduate studies at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in 2012, George dedicated himself to both performance and education. He has taught at schools across Sydney and the Blue Mountains, leading string programs and helping young musicians develop strong technique, musicality and confidence. His ability to connect with students of all ages allows him to tailor lessons to suit individual learning styles and goals.
As a performer, George has played with leading ensembles including Sydney Youth Orchestra, The Arts Unit, Artes Christi Orchestra and the Conservatorium Cello Ensemble. He has also coordinated string ensembles at several secondary schools and performed in major events such as Carols in the Domain. His versatility extends to playing in string quartets and trios for weddings and special occasions as well as working as a session musician for alternative and folk groups.
